Joining us on many of our adventures is our dog Theo. Theo is a rescue dog from our local shelter and will greet you with a tail wag. Theo came to become a part of our family in early September 2024. Through no fault of his own, Theo found himself at the shelter. Alex and I had decided to stop in while out doing some errands just to see what was available. Theo was in the first kennel just sitting there looking sad. He did not bark or really acknowledge us as we went by. We took our time and read about each dog and it was between Theo and another one. On the way back by we stopped and Theo seemed to light up a little. He wagged his tail while he sat there sniffing us. When we started walking away he barked at us as if to say please take me with you. Theo won over the other dog because he has lived with cats! We happen to have three of them so we needed a cat friendly dog. Theo came home with us that day and has fit in perfectly.
Theo is not the original “hiking dog” around here. Scrappy and Zeus were our OG hiking dogs, well at least Scrappy was. Zeus was more of a couch potato. Scrappy was always up for a hike while Zeus was always up for a boat ride with Alex. These two paved the way for us to welcome another rescue dog by way of Theo.
